Thomasville Chapter, NSDAR 2017 Events



The Thomasvlle Chapter, NSDAR March meeting featured a program by Bill Steele, a retired archaeologist who worked for the Seminole Tribe in Florida. Past Regents of the Thomasville Chapter, NSDAR were also honored.

The Thomasville Chapter, NSDAR held its April meeting "On The Road" at Tall Timbers Research Station! Tall Timbers Retired Executive Director, Lane Green gave a program on Conservation and Prescribed Burning to DAR members and guests. The DAR Conservation Medal was also presented to Green at the meeting.

Georgia State First Vice Regent Melodye G. Brown installed Thomasville Chapter, NSDAR Regent Deb Phillips and the new slate of officers for the 2017-2019 term at the May meeting.

The Thomasville Chapter, NSDAR Regent Deb Phillips spoke to members about the importance of Constitution Week at the September meeting. The Thomasville Chapter, NSDAR inducted new member Marcianne Benton.

The Thomasville Chapter, NSDAR speaker for October was Gwendolyn Waldorf, Assistant Curator with the Tallahassee Museum. Waldorf presented an interesting program on the Princess Catherine Murat Exhibit. The restoration of the Murat dress was made possible through a DAR special projects grant sponsored by the Fort San Luis Chapter, NSDAR in Tallahassee.

The Thomasville Chapter, NSDAR speaker for November was Thomasville Author C.L. "Chip" Bragg who spoke about his latest book, “Martyr of the American Revolution: The Execution of Isaac Hayne, South Carolinian."
